Getting out and about is easy from here, since your Kauai accommodations are centrally located with Poipu to the south and Napali Coast to the north. But first, take a short drive back to the 19th century with a visit to Old Kapaa Town, where you’ll find shops and restaurants galore, along with friendly people at every stop. Next, you might want to investigate the many outdoor activities, hiking trails, and waterfalls right in the area. Take a bike ride on the path along the shoreline to Kapaa Beach Park to get your bearings. For a longer ride, continue north along through old sugarcane field roads to Anahola Beach Park. Scenic journeys by car can take you from the jungle side of the island to the far west desert side where mountains drop 4,500 feet into the ocean. Hit beaches from Haena (the birthplace of rainbows) to Hanalei Bay. Kayak Hanalei River or Wailua River. If you opt to save your strength and go by cruise boat on Wailua River, you’ll be serenaded by Hawaiian musicians all the way to photo-worthy Fern Grotto. Wailua River State Park, Keahua Forestry Arboretum, and Opaekaa Falls are also great places to contemplate nature. But you don’t necessarily need places on the map to immerse yourself in the beauty of this island. Find your own private cove, lookout point, or sacred site. When you're staying in Kauai accommodations so ideally located, it's half the fun.
