Maui Restaurants

Maui restaurants, generally speaking, are outstanding. Maui dining, casual. Creative Pacific Rim cuisine is prominent here, but you can also find excellent ethnic and local-style Maui restaurants in the less touristy areas like Kahului or Wailuku. If you’re staying at Kamaole Sands, just a couple of blocks away you’ll find Five Palms Restaurant. This open-air dining spot specializes in island flavors, sunsets, and delicious views of the Wailea coastline. Want to try local and Hawaiian-style food? Head to Da Kitchen, “Home of Da World’s Biggest Plate Lunch.” It’s been voted Maui’s “Best Kept Secret” and “Best Plate Lunch.” A short drive away, the Diamond Hawaii Resort & Spa has two exquisite restaurant options: Restaurant Taiko for Japanese and Pacific cuisine and featuring an outstanding sushi bar, and Capische? for Italian. Near the Maui Beach Hotel, you’ll find Koho’s for low prices and big portions. Locals come here after a movie at the cinema upstairs. Or The Hideaway Restaurant (which is a little hidden), next to Hoaloha Park, with a wonderful view of the water.

The performing arts are alive and well on Maui. See what is happening at the island’s most prestigious venue, the Maui Arts and Cultural Center. Or take to the dance floor yourself at one of Maui’s many dance clubs, where Jawaiian music (a mix of reggae and Hawaiian) inspires the dancer in everyone. Or just listen to some of the finest Hawaiian musicians around. Hapa, Willie K., Amy Gilliom, and Keali`i Reichel play on Maui often because it is their native island. As you look for entertainment, keep in mind that one of the most spectacular performances can be found at any oceanfront watering hole…the setting sun.
