Saipan Shopping & Dining

When night falls on Saipan, the discos, bars, restaurants and nightclubs wake up. Saipan restaurants feature an assortment of international cuisine, including Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Western-style and local cuisine. Local specialties include kelaguin, a dish that can be made with beef, chicken, or fish and prepared with fresh coconut, fresh lemons and locally grown hot pepper.

Saipan shopping is made up of multiple shopping centers and duty free stores. Special purchases include locally produced handicrafts. However, there are specific areas that have more to offer. Garapan is the bustling area to go for shopping, dining, and nightlife entertainment. Take a stroll down the Paseo De Marianas and visit the many shops and restaurants. Businesspeople, sailors and tourists alike flock here for excitement. (Yes, you’ll even find karaoke bars.)

Depending on when you visit Saipan, there also may be special events going on. Annual celebrations include the Flame Tree Festival, the Taste of the Marianas, a variety of sporting events, and village fiestas in honor of local patron saints. Additionally, the Garapan Street Market is held every Thursday night from 5 pm to 9 pm on Coral Ave. Street. For more information on events and activities, please click here to visit the Marianas Visitors Authority website.
